Why not try something different this year and go after dark? January and February, some of the best ways for a walk in the moonlight, this time of year with the highest brightness. The Lakeland Fells to take a completely different character when the sun goes down and completely fascinating insight into the moonlight, it is really a delight to the eye. You can even make your four-legged friend with you, of course, most of them very good visibility in the dark. Unfortunately, my dog Moss is actually afraid of the dark, so I will probably leave him at home on this occasion.

Choose one was to know you and who can not let you on the edge of clean! Latrigg, Barrow, Binsey and Dodd are excellent and easy appetizer trays of various dog friendly Lake District holiday cottages in the region. With the right conditions, you may even try Skiddaw or good western slopes of Helvellyn, both of which have peaks shelters enjoy a hot drink!

For a walk in the moonlight, you should use the usual hiking kit plus extra layer of warm, delicious chocolate and a warm bottle. A map, compass and first aid equipment is necessary, so your head flashlight and extra batteries. On a clear night, you should be able to handle the light of the moon – but it is imperative that a headlight for emergencies or when the weather changes. Use the red-light feature is required for map reading or whatever, extra light. This will not affect your night vision when you start driving.

Familiarize yourself with the route in daylight and makes a note in the amount of all the important features. Let a route with a responsible and, where possible, the local mountain rescue of your plans. It is not meant to be good people to turn in the mountains, which are keyed to the rescue of the report, only to find the light belongs to people who do not need to save the unusual!

When you are finished, and then fell out, you can sit back and relax in the warmth of one of the many Lake District country in the region or tweak earnt at the nearest pub for a pint of good beer.

As crazy as it may prove to be those of us who are struggling with the cold, snow, gray skies and long nights in winter, hanging in the winter backpacking sound like just the cure! At least it was for me …

I was in my twenties when I was in the autumn, deplores the death of summer with the oncoming of the shorter days and falling temperatures. At the end of november, I fully dressed in a blue funk, obsessed, shivering and afraid of the idea of really cold weather lurking just around the next page or two of the calendar. The more I pined for warmer weather, the slower time seems to be the case.

I can not say exactly when that thought entered my head, but they have, why not throw myself wholeheartedly into Old Man Winter and see what effect it may have to my perspective?

It was the nucleus which is implanted in my head.

But what was my intention, in the form of devotion to the polar elements? For one reason or another. Backpacking in my mind

It was not like I’m an avid hiker and not in summer. Heck, I could never live in my backpack, and not even so much as a Fanny pack.

With a determination can be fed by seasonal madness, I said to my now growing idea with my best friend and asked him to join me in my search for my dislike of winter to conquer, and the whole thing upside down, where I started actually looking forward to the first snowflake falls.

Well, Bud caught the error, and we have emptied our pockets, collecting an impressive inventory of winter gear. We would not only run a few routes to a few hours of daylight. Heck, no! We wanted it all. Our trip would be a way to Finger Lakes region of upstate New York is overwrought.

Our plans for the trail down into manageable units of around 13-18 miles per mentioned. We would begin after work on a Friday evening, Friday and Saturday night in our tent on the way and wrap things off early Sunday afternoon.

One might think that we have moved into our dreams and so cold (literally) reality Sobers us and our tempered enthusiasm, but it was not the case. Not at all. Actually, it was exactly the opposite! Winter began to inspire us and backpacking was the key. We went through the sky with bare trees looked at us as a mild moonlight showed the way to go. During the day, we found that even with a modest burden on his back, we must remain no more than a parka, so long as the heat that we had to move. Certainly, we discovered how important it is to choose good equipment was! Our understanding of what started to make a good backpack, tent, sleeping bag and shoes that grow with experience.

We were backpacking an antidote to winter. It strengthens our muscles and our learned orienteering. Our understanding of nature developed, and we found ourselves with the ability to survive long nights of howling winds and blowing snow is fascinating. Instead of waiting for the tomb of the season, spring, we came to life.

Well, you’re almost there. For weeks or even months now, you have watched with envy at other campers Friday night away as you soon on another weekend, while you were still queuing at Sainsbury man made!

Now you’re eager to get out and freedom to enjoy and … But before you do, take some time for the 6 errors I’ve seen the man again and again over the years assessed by repeating. It can save you some money or more …

1) Buy the wrong caravan to your car (or vice versa)

The first mistake you should consider when looking to attract new or used caravan with a suitable vehicle. Unsuitable vehicles are not only dangerous, but it would cost a significant fine, points on your license and your insurance is void if you are involved in an accident. Then refer to the man in the pub or get hungry for advice about a car salesman commission for a recommendation. Get an independent recommendation of HPI Safe Tow, a comprehensive database of cars suitable for towing the caravan to get.

2) sold in the wrong caravan

When I was a boy (no really, I have been involved in the trailer business since I was 17!) Was that we sell caravans on a handshake. Times have changed, unfortunately, and some of the marketing tactics I’ve used by some people in our industry would be a double glazing sales crawl to take. This new form of sale ‘Hot Shot’ staff can spot the first time buyer a few kilometers away, and dragging them with seemingly irresistible offers on caravans that an experienced campers move would come on the site. Keep your wits about you. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. And never, never, never “There is a price today only” tight fool!

3) The purchase of a stolen or written from caravan

If those blue lights in your rearview mirror to ensure that the boys in blue will only give you a warning about a dodgy brake light and not for your caravan to intervene. Because if it turns out that the caravan you bought in good faith, is stolen, you must return to the original owner. Again, an HPI check will show whether the caravan is stolen you buy too much or has outstanding finance on or off, it was written by an insurance company.

4) The choice of a caravan, it does not fit your lifestyle

This is perhaps the most difficult to avoid mistakes and possibly the worst (because it can only lead to divorce!) Resolution on the right layout for you and those you want to spend time with the other room in your home is difficult because of the increasing number of choices available. Get really good and you can order the same to swap for your caravan after a few months. My advice? Choose your number one “must have” and bypass. For most people a good night’s sleep is high on the list, so I would always start.

(I’ve noticed that many people most of their time to spend thinking, and a comparison of “living space”, which in most cases can easily be doubled with the addition of a canopy seems). It can be a good idea to have your top three “must haves” in writing and shall be responsible for the list you refer to, and keep you on track if you are tempted by a “nice to have the” one to be. “If you think you know what you want if you have the chance to live in a caravan with the layout of your choice before you buy, take advantage of the opportunity,” lie, buy than “have!

5) trained with a mobile home without

This is perhaps the most dangerous mistake because if you make a mistake when, for example, that overtaking a truck on the highway … well, the consequences are unthinkable. Although life is not danger, the consequences for an inexperienced drag both costly and embarrassing mistakes. People have been known to several thousand dollars damage to a brand new house to do within a few hours after sampling and in his own driveway, by simply dragging their inexperience. Do not make the same mistake – investing a day of hauling school and get a caravan safe and trust.

6) Accessories to buy, will never ever need

This is perhaps the most important error because if you do it in bad taste may be a few pounds and clutter in the garage with a few bad purchases. Resist the temptation on a trolley dash around the accessory shop on the same day you go to pick up your caravan. Take the essence and go camping. Your new friends caravan is more than happy to send you in the right direction for the best accessories … on your first grill and a cold beer.

The idea of national parks was unheard of when John Conness, junior senator from California, made in May 1864 a bill to preserve what was eventually to become Yosemite National Park and to place under the protection of the State of California. His goal was to ensure that the natural wonders of Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove of trees were accessible and available to everyone, not just the privileged classes of Sequoia. Abraham Lincoln signed the bill into law less than two months later.

The first national park in the world was in 1872 when President Ulysses S. Grant in a law, a law that created Yellowstone did signed. Unfortunately, the law has nothing to protect the country. The 2 million acres in the control of the Yellowstone Park Improvement Company granted a monopoly in the park. Over a period of five years, the company was authorized area for timber, hunting, and the main attractions for profit. The relevant public sector, as an editor George Bird Grinnell, and General Sheridan, Phillip led the fight to the park and its resources to protect. Finally, a military cavalry unit that is added to the area to check. National Park was under the protection of the army for the next 30 years.

President Benjamin Harrison signed into law the bill, the other in Yosemite National Park holds together with two other sites aside, for the large Sequoia trees in Sequoia and General Grant National Park to protect the shot put. As the U.S. grew and the country Rush continues much of the natural wilderness overrun and destroyed. A few people recognized the need to go into the wilderness and wildlife of progress, including the young Theodore Roosevelt to preserve. Under his presidency, five new national parks, 51 federal bird sanctuaries, four national game refuges, 18 national monuments and created more than 100 million acres of national forests in value.

The army continued to protect the national parks, but more help was needed. In order to protect Yosemite, John Muir was naked Sierra Club, an organization that is still active. George Bird Grinnell used his magazine, Forrest and Stream to encourage the public to protect the animals and began to support the Audubon Society for the killing of wild birds to stop. In 1916 a law was passed, and President Howard Taft, National Park Service created.

Responsibility for the National Park Service is to balance protection and preservation of access to and use of the public. It collaborates with several other organizations in both protection and utilization of park land to offer.

My first backpacking experience was far from “easy”. More on the contrary! Do you think that the decision not forget that movie where Robert Redford played the role of a man who has contempt for society and life in the wilderness of the Rocky Mountains? You would think I was a reincarnation of Jeremiah Johnson added, as I dressed, and I chose clothes. In hindsight! What creepy to me

But that is how we learn. And learn I did, that the knowledge and experience of growing migration to light backpacking traction and weight were routine.

The lighter the backpack, the easier it is to …

Although it should be obvious, this simple fact does not always impress us, so far as it should. And the longer the trip should have more power on our decisions in this credo. Our legs and back will always be grateful to us! Backpacking should be fun and in the easy direction of the kind of fatigue and exhaustion produced toting around extra pounds to avoid.

Take only what you need for comfortable and safe …

Only the items you need are comfortable and safe a process of experience. After a while you come to a short list of topics that are developing countries fulfill these criteria. Until then carefully consider each potential element to consider challenging themselves whether the product is necessary and useful, not hypothetical, but in practice.

Often you can take advantage of multi-purpose items such as Swiss army knife and clothing (eg convertible cargo pants), the flexibility of the target.

To slim your list, each item weighs, so check the weight challenging, more aggressive for items that weigh more. Is it useful? Easy? Compact? Reliable? What would occur if they left?

Select a package that is small …

What better to help themselves to the discipline towards lightweight backpacking weight as a pack to keep you in what you choose to advanced forces to tackle? Nature, a small package defines, you can wear.

My own start in the world of the field began in the winter, the season needs sober reflection, both in terms of safety and comfort. Burdened with too much emphasis was my first trips into the desert, you know that with sore muscles, fatigue, and periods where I’m sure I’m a less than pleasant companion interrupted walk! But when I challenged the dignity of the subjects I chose to take the weight and always face downwards focus, I found my joy quotient increases, so will you.

Although it may seem like the world’s most impressive bridges everything seems designed for cars, but if you’re interested in them on foot, there is usually a time where this is possible. Indeed. The increase of the wagon a rise in the number of bridges and an increase in the number provided to connect bridges Thus, over London Bridge is famous for its history and the buildings around it, if you want spectacular, and then select a large, modern bridge is usually the best option.

Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is one of the most iconic structures in America. Crossing the entrance to the San Francisco Bay, and offers excellent views over the city and the island of Alcatraz in one direction, and the vast Pacific Ocean on the other hand, it really is a miracle. The bridge is full of pedestrians, but sometimes crowded. Introduction to the bridge is as simple as walking 15 minutes from downtown San Francisco, and there is a ferry back from Sausalito, on the other hand, if you’re too tired for the second phase.

One of the most spectacular bridges in the world, Millau Viaduct in southern France. Spanning 2.5 kilometers across the valley, and designed by British architect Sir Norman Foster, the building has quickly become a tourist icon. Although the bridge is only open for traffic, and has no track for pedestrians, sometimes there are events where the bridge is closed to all motor vehicles. In 2007, a 14-mile race across the bridge in both directions, and after the opening, there was an official event for walkers to see the bridge. Although these are sporadic, evaluation of the site gives you an idea of when these events occur.

The Humber Bridge, here in the United Kingdom is located, is one of the largest suspension bridges in the world. The size of the bridge, the upper of the two towers 1.4 inches wider apart than at the bottom of the curvature of the earth. Although the bridge is primarily a one way street, there is a path and cycle path that runs along, which means that hikers can enjoy views of the Humber estuary. With the number of trains to Hull, it is possible to easily reach the bridge, and the view from the bridge does not make the trip more than worthwhile.

Experience the grandeur of the Grand Canyon in various exciting ways. Helicopter flights and whitewater rafting are just two examples. But not everyone wants that kind of kick. Some people prefer something more relaxed, especially families with young people. I would recommend one of the smooth water, slow boat trips on the Colorado River that companies from March to November each year offers.

For one thing, it’s much easier to take pictures while slowly moving. There is also enough to make your point to the lower edges of the canyon. Millions of years of river action brings colorful stripes and caves in the rocky precipices. Plus, you Hualapai River guide describes the life of his forefathers thousands of years.

Keep your eyes open while you are on your Grand Canyon rafting trip. You could see birds rising in the air above you. Bighorn sheep are indigenous to the area and they are a normal phenomenon in the canyon. You can also use hot water from hot springs in the rocks.

You have several options for tours If you are interested in a long trip down the Colorado. One option would be more than 10 miles of river that begins near Hoover Dam. If you have a Hoover Dam tour to include in your package, you will learn how this remarkable technical achievement really is. You can picnic on the banks of the artificial Lake Mead, stop, or you can have a snack or a drink to have, as you can look back to your hotel.

Children must be at least four years old to go, but one in particular children, has price. Group rates, including special rates for business trips are also available. Grand Canyon is the perfect backdrop for an office party or teambuilding experience. If you are a newly married bride, you can see the women in your bridal party to a Colorado River rafting trip invite to thank them.

Float drivers pick up tour participants at their hotels. Some people are brought to the launch pad by bus, while others come around. These vans and buses are air conditioned and has comfortable seats with ample legroom, but the buses have video screens.

The life rafts to the Grand Canyon rafting trips can be used up to 17 persons. This means that you are able to make new friends while you float on the river, and their experiences with each other.

You can also visit the canyon when you book a “combination” Grand Canyon tour. These tours begin with a helicopter over the Grand Canyon National Park. When your helicopter lands aboard your raft. The two types of experiences provides a striking contrast – the aerial view of the helicopter is very different than the view from the raft, thousands of feet below the rim.

Take the right clothes when they leave for the float trip. You will probably get wet while rafting – especially if you decide to go for a swim in the Colorado River – so bring a towel and a change of clothes. And because of the desert can be cold in the morning and evening, but it’s hot during the day. I suggest you take sunscreen, a hat and a sweater.

The Vegas package begins with a helicopter to the canyon floor. This is an extraordinary trip, so you can do it alone at the West Rim. The passengers, 30 minutes on foot. You will then be transferred to a bus and go to the bottom of the spectacular Hoover Dam, where you start the 11-mile rafting trip to Willow Beach, AZ.

South Rim packages are available in two variants. The most popular is that a Grand Canyon by bus to the airport in Page, AZ. The trip takes about 2.5 hours. The view is fantastic and east of the park, Painted Desert and Navajo Indian Reservation.

The bus continued on a two-kilometer-long tunnel through the base of the dam on the pontoon jetty. Both hold up to 17 people and adventure levels. Total distance you must travel on the water is about 15 miles. There are a few, including one where a short walk to a rock with Indian petroglyphs. Trips end at Lee’s Ferry Rafting, Whitewater starting point for expeditions.

The second variant of the South Rim Tours offers a smooth water float flight to the airport site. The pages you see are phenomenal and include Desert Watchtower, the Zuni Corridor, Colorado River Confluence and more. Before you decide on the rafting trip, you jump on a Jeep 4×4 and a guided excursion to the famous Antelope Valley.

Float trips are all inclusive and comes with the boat, equipment, water, lunch and return transportation to Grand Canyon Airport. A certified pilot flow is the man every turn. The self is essential for a good guide to really understand the area you will be rafting.

Be prepared for the weather. Vegas South Rim, and the trips are hot in summer, so make sure you have a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a long sleeved shirt and water (with a tour provided) package. Apply lip balm, a set of dry clothes and sandals, located in river rafting. You do not expect to get wet.

Although most people Grand Canyon by helicopter or plane to give a day Grand Canyon rafting trips, you have another option. Several travel companies offer this experience. Rafting is a wonderful way to Colorado River and the spectacular gorge created over the millennia to see.

Some companies offer more rafting in Colorado, but one day experience is the best for most people because it is not too much time away from their other holiday activities. Do so if you come specifically to the field of river rafting, you will probably choose one-day excursion. It gives you a great experience, but also enough time for you to the rest of the area to explore. If you have a longer rafting trip, it is easy to see the designer for multi-day rafting trips offer online.

When you compare the cost with the award for Grand Canyon helicopter or plane travel, you will note that rafting trips are very reasonable. Tour operators in Las Vegas can organize your entire trip including transport your raft to the launch pad. Read the fine print before you order something, but – you pay good money and you want to make sure you understand everything your trip.

Single-day smooth water float trips can be taken from the South Rim or West Rim. The version of the West Rim begins with a helicopter to the canyon floor. You are then on the basis of Hoover Dam where you will be transported on board the raft. After flowing through the Black Canyon, your trip to River Willow Beach, Arizona. All in all, you’re on the water for about 11 miles.

There are two types of calm water float trips come at the South Rim. Both packages start at Grand Canyon National Park Grand Canyon National Park Airport. The cheapest (and popular) of these smooth water float trips by bus takes you to Page, Arizona. From here you will find your way to the bottom of Glen Canyon Dam. This is where you can raft on board and start your 15-mile float down the calm waters of the river. Your rafting trip ends on arrival at Lees Ferry. The second South Rim package, so you fly by plane to the other side and has a 4×4 trip to Antelope Canyon, but the river is part of the same. Your boat will be an adventure-grade pontoon raft that can hold up to 19 people.

They float on the river on calm water in all these trips – there is no white water Rapids along the route. Why they are so suitable for any age. Children must be at least four years old, though.

Summer is high season for these trips. It is not uncommon for them to sell themselves, not wait until the last minute to make your appointments. I urge you to make your rafting trip in advance. You can register online for the float trip that suits your needs perfectly find, and find the best prices available. Some of the deals I found on the net is almost embarrassingly good.

Will be looking for the perfect road trip online is not always so clear and simple as it looks. The selection online is huge – you can travel to almost every country in the world safe for a riding holiday. As the riders can be assured that they choose a riding holiday to meet their expectations? Here are a few points you should consider before booking a holiday on horseback.

1) availability owners – the owners have to run with their guests, or rent them for their travel guides to lead? When their guests and horse welfare is a priority for the owners, they will ride on every ride. Employed guides can be very good, but if they are not the same continuity as the owner. Wizards are often replaced.

2) The horses – have used the horses during riding, which also owns, or are they hired? Many suppliers of horse riding holiday rental during the season only, and are often not familiar with the horses they have especially in the beginning of the season. Leased horses are not always the best quality and driving pleasure are not the same as horses are carefully selected and bred and trained in the field.

3) Run the environment. Not all riding holidays offer the same excellent driving conditions. Some sites may be surrounded by flat, uninteresting landscape. May be unequal in other parts of the earth, and the possibility of safe driving speed is limited. Some are beautiful, fertile but inaccessible valleys. Sometimes there is a lot of the road, busy roads, electric fences, gates, and the local farmers who refuse to horses on their land to allow. Sometimes you all day without seeing that other people drive, but other locations are filled with riding tractors, cyclists and hikers. It is important to find out before you, what kind of environment you are running in. Books

4) courses – Liability issues have gained importance in recent years, and some owners will not allow riders to go faster than a quick trip, while others only a slow trot possible. If you want your horse while riding, to find out whether this will be before you book. Group size also affects the quality of driving, small groups are usually a better ride for horse and rider. The owner must be able to drive their guests to judge just before guests arrive. Many hosts are now riding ask guests to fill out a cavalry-level questionnaire before they arrive, and begins with a ride in an indoor riding arena before you on a journey.

5) Tack – Tack can make or break a riding holiday. Outfitters have different quality saddles and tack for each horse – each tailored to the specific anatomy of the horse. Tack must be maintained, even during your leave for safety and aesthetic reasons in excellent condition. A riding holiday can in other ways, from what you are accustomed to using – if you are dressage rider, to be used in a western saddle can take a while.

6) Security – Horse and rider must be carefully coordinated. The speed of travel is the opportunity for the talented drivers who are at least in the group. Weather be taken into consideration. Ride leaders should have first aid training, be aware of all horses and riders and to quickly and effectively communicate in the event of an emergency. Tack must be inspected and repaired tack Daily and the Government must ensure that the horses are saddled and safely check before driving off. Riders must be properly dressed – all riders must wear approved riding helmets.

7) Insurance – most owners insist that guests take out travel insurance before driving holiday – it’s also important that the owner is properly insured to provide a horse riding holidays.

Tutorial – Some drivers do not offer riding holidays and riding lessons. If you want to improve your driving skills while riding vacation in advance to check the possibility of riding lessons available. Teachers must be fully qualified and experienced. Sometimes designers also offer Natural Horsemanship lessons and equine-assisted coaching sessions.

If you live in Almaty Hotel is located, you may be interested in learning a little about the society in Kazakhstan. The country and its people have not received much media attention in the West, outside of their misrepresentations in the hands of Sasha Baron Cohen, an event that remains a sore point for this day. If you travel to the country, it is a great opportunity to experience themselves the beauty and warmth of the locals and the country as a whole. The epic steppes give the country a strong aesthetic that makes it particularly attractive and that people tend to enjoy time outdoors. For this reason the country has become one of the most powerful in the sport of racing:

A country built for cyclists

A stay at a hotel in Almaty, will be the perfect place for a great cycling terrain to the south of this great country around to enjoy. The landscape is fertile ground for some great cycling in recent years and is close to a popular destination for those who want something different in a cycling holiday. The former capital is surrounded by mountains, so it’s perhaps a little too ambitious for guests at hotels in Almaty, which does not seem serious cyclists, but if you go to other parts of the country, you will find pistes for all levels.

Kazakh cyclist
